Hotter than Hell during a heat wave! Hot Yoga Experience

FIT  Clinic – Today I tried HOT YOGA for the first time. I’m no stranger to yoga but I have never dared to try this sweaty and humid version for whatever excuse I could conjur up at the time, perhaps fear of the unknown.

Call me crazy but it was surprisingly refreshing! I took a class with Sonia at The Clarity Centre in Oakville today at noon. She was great. Very accommodating to veterans and newbies alike.

It wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be. The 99 degrees Fahrenheit temperature was soothing and calming. Peaceful and relaxing, and not to mention a well received gift with temperature of -32 degrees  Celsius with the wind chill (convert it to Fahrenheit if u need to, haha). You sweat, no doubt about it, but the heat is negligible at about 15 mins in.

I was a tough hour. After not having practiced yoga (of any form) in roughly 2 and a half years I’ve realized how flexible I really wasn’t. Modified poses were definitely required to power through the class but I still felt a lot of tension melting away (not to mention the calories!!!). Much flexibility work needed here and I welcome it with open arms.

Today, I’ve fallen in love with yoga. I’m implementing a yoga practice into my fitness regimen. I may just be starting with the classes but I’m looking forward to beginning a journey on learning the yoga culture.

My goal now is to get the arm-balance perfected! Challenge accepted Sonia!
